MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho women's basketball returns home this weekend to face Portland State and Sacramento State. The Vandals will tip off vs PSU at 6 p.m. on Thursday, February 2nd followed by Sacramento State at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 4th. Both games will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and will be available via radio broadcast heard on AM 840 KMAX or GoVandals.com.
ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals have returned to the win column after an undefeated weekend on the road at Weber State and Idaho State. Idaho defeated Weber State 66-52 before traveling to Pocatello to defeat Idaho State 68-61.
Ashlyn Wallace had a career weekend, recording seven rebounds and five assists against Weber State and tallying 25 points at Idaho State. Wallace shot over 70% from the field and at the line.
Beyonce Bea picked up her seventh double-double of the season with 15 points and a season-high 15 rebounds at Weber State.
Tiana Johnson and
Rosa Smith joined Wallace and Bea in the double-digit points in the win over Idaho State.
ABOUT PORTLAND STATE: Portland State did not see success on their recent road trip to Montana. Montana State and Montana defeated the Vikings 64-52 and 88-56. PSU is 4-5 in conference with wins against Idaho, NAU, Weber State, and Idaho State. Esmeraldo Morales continues to lead the Vikings in points with 305 on the season, shooting 46.1% (106-230) from the field, 46.6% (54-116) from the arc, and 72.2% (39-54) from the line. She leads the Big Sky with 36.49 minutes per game, 2.37 steals per game, and in three-point percentage. PSU has been outscored by their opponents 1169-1161 so far this season.
ABOUT SACRAMENTO STATE: Sacramento State was dethroned from the top position in the Big Sky after suffering losses to Montana and Montana State. Montana pulled out an 81-77 win while Montana State claimed first in the Big Sky with a 61-60 win. Kahlaija Dean has been a force for the Hornets, tallying 437 points this season. She has shot 47.7% (144-302) from the field, 40.5% (45-111) from the arc, and 82.5% (104-126) from the line. She has edged out Bea for the first in the conference with 21.8 PPG. Sacramento State leads the conference in blocks per game (4), field goal percentage (45.9%), scoring margin (8.4), and winning percentage (75%) as well as many individual leaders.
SERIES HISTORY: Idaho has the advantage in both series histories but are on a losing streak following losses earlier in the season. Idaho leads PSU 32-15 all-time with a 16-6 record at home. Idaho leads Sacramento State 16-6 with a 10-1 record at home.
