Vandal Soccer Hosts UNC and NAU

MOSCOW, Idaho— The Vandal soccer team (8-4-2) hosts the University of Northern Colorado (0-12-4) on Friday at 7 p.m. PST and Northern Arizona University (8-4-3) on Sunday at 1 p.m. PST. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+.

ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals secured their spot in the Big Sky Tournament coming off a 2-1 win against Eastern Washington University last Sunday (10/15). Idaho's victory came from two goals scored back-to-back in the second half within four minutes of each other. The goals were scored by senior Maddy Lasher and junior Annika Farley.

For the Vandals to secure the No. 2 spot in the Big Sky Conference, they must win over both UNC and NAU this weekend. They are currently tied for third with NAU meaning a wipe-out weekend is exactly what Idaho needs in addition to some help from Montana to win or tie over Portland State.

ABOUT NORTHERN COLORADO: The Bear's overall record heading into the weekend is 0-12-4. Although they have yet to win a match in conference play, they have earned three points through ties and cannot be underestimated. The Bears lost to Montana on Sunday (10/15) 0-3.

The last time the Vandals and Bears faced off it ended in a win for Idaho. The final score of the game was 1-0. The goal was scored by Farley. The Vandals currently have a win streak of two over the Bears going 7-4-3 overall, 4-0-2 at home, 3-2-0 away, and 0-2-0 at a neutral site.

ABOUT NORTHERN ARIZONA: The Lumberjacks come off a split weekend with a win over Northern Colorado and a loss to Montana. The final score over UNC was 3-0 with goals scored by Allison Veloz and two goals scored by Maddie Shafer. The Lumberjacks were able to put up one goal against No. 1 seed Montana. That goal was scored by Molly Massman.

The Vandals currently have a loss streak under NAU but have every intention of turning that around. Idaho's overall record against the Lumberjacks is 3-5-3. From home, the Vandals are 2-2-1, 1-1-2 away, and 0-2-0 at a neutral site. The last time these two teams went head-to-head the final score was 0-1 in favor of the Lumberjacks.
