MOSCOW, Idaho - The Idaho Women's Basketball team will travel to Honolulu, Hawai'i this weekend for the Bank of Hawaii Classic. The Vandals will first play California State University at Fullerton on Friday (11/17) at 2 p.m. PT in the SimpliFi Arena. Later in the weekend, the Vandals will play the University of Hawaii on Sunday (11/19) at 7 p.m. PT. The Hawai'i game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and both games will be available on the radio at AM 840 KMAX and GoVandals.com.
ABOUT IDAHO: The Vandals finished off their first week 1-1 winning over Walla Walla University (92-50) and a close loss to Cal Poly (55-65). Kennedy Johnson led the scoreboard for Idaho in both games with 18 points against the Wolves and 14 points against the Mustangs. She played over 20 minutes each game and shot 75% from the three-point and foul line.
ABOUT FULLERTON: The Titans are 1-1 in non-conference so far this season. They held wins over Concordia (80-56) and Sacramento State (61-51). The Titan's only loss to date is to the University of the Pacific (57-73). Leading scorers for Fullerton so far include Ashlee Lewis, Demonnie Lagway, and Kathryn Neff. In their loss against Pacific, Lewis had a season-high 17 points and added 14 rebounds and three blocks.
The series between the Vandals and the Titans runs deep. Idaho used to be alongside Fullerton in the Big West conference with a 13-4 lead over the Titans. The last time these two teams clashed, the Vandals came out victorious, winning 80-60 at home during the 2017-18 season.
ABOUT HAWAI'I: The Rainbow Warriors are 1-1 thus far in the 2023-24 season. Leading scorers for Hawai'i are Brooklyn Rewers and MeiLani McBee. Rewers put up 8 points against the Stanford Cardinals and 19 points against the Santa Clara Broncos. McBee also put up 16 points against the Broncos.
The Vandals and Rainbow Warriors are not shy of each other. With a series going as far back as 1982, Hawaii has a lead over the Vandals 11-7. The last time these two teams matched up was in the 2019-2020 season where the Vandals won 67-52 at home.
The Vandals have competed many times in Hawaii with their most recent debut at the Maui Jim Maui Classic during the 2021-22 season.
