MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho volleyball dropped its regular season finale to Eastern Washington, 15-25, 21-25, 13-25, on Friday night at Reese Court.
Five Vandals recorded at least four kills on the night, including five each from
Taylor Brickey and
Lauryn Arnold. The Vandals played with a two-setter rotation as
Lacy Cox posted 11 assists while
Natalia Wielgus tallied 10. Arnold was sensational at the net for the Idaho defense, stuffing a season-high six shots. In the back row,
Aine Doty added her 23rd game of double-figure digs with 12.
Eastern Washington started with a first set victory, 25-15. Each team rallied off a pair of 3-0 spurts to bring the score to even at 11-11 before EWU opened up the set, scoring 12 of the next 14 points to put it out of reach for Idaho. Seven Vandals recorded a kill including three from Arnold. EWU took advantage at the net with four blocks while benefiting from three service aces from Idaho.
The Vandals fell in the second 25-21, falling down 2-0. Idaho was unable to get it going on the offensive end, tallying seven attack errors and two mistakes from the service line.
The Eagles completed the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third. EWU built an 8-3 lead and the Vandals were unable to make a dent in the scoreboard as the Eagles extended their lead to 18-8. Idaho scored six more points before EWU closed it out with match point.
