MOSCOW, Idaho - The Idaho Track and Field/Cross Country team announces its next signee, Simona Bartosova of Opava, Czech Republic. She will join the Vandals for the spring semester of 2024 as a middle-distance athlete.

Bartosova competes in the 400, 800, and 1500 meter races. She recently took first at the Sokolské úterý finishing the 800m at a 2:18.36 mark.

Simona raced at the Czech U20 Championships in June where she finished eighth in the 1500m at 4:49.64. In 2022, Bartosova took third in the 1500m at the Czech U20 Indoor Championships, crossing the tape at 4:41.9.

"The University of Idaho offered everything I needed for this journey - a supportive athletic program and a great academic environment. It was an exciting decision for me," said Bartosova.

Bartosova plans to study psychology at Idaho.
