Harris 70-yard Pick-Six Seals Idaho's 27-13 Win over UNC

GREELEY, Colo. – Marcus Harris intercepted a pass and returned it 70 yards for a touchdown to end any hopes of a Northern Colorado comeback and close out a 27-13 win for the No. 3 Idaho Vandals, Saturday afternoon in Greeley Colorado.
 
The Vandals never trailed in the win, taking a 3-0 lead in the first quarter on a 48-yard field goal by Ricardo Chavez with 5:41 left in the first quarter. The Idaho defense did not allow a first down in the first quarter for the second consecutive week. The Vandal offense added to the score with an Anthony Woods touchdown with 14:37 to play in the second quarter to extend the lead to 10-0.
 
Northern Colorado got on the board with a touchdown late in the first half to cut the Vandal lead to 10-7 at the break.
 
The Vandals took their opening drive of the second half 84 yards, consuming 9:37 of time of possession before Gevani McCoy found Hayden Hatten for a five-yard touchdown with 3:37 left in the third quarter.
 
The Bears added a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 17-13, but Chavez added a 27yardwe with 4:44 to play to extend the lead to 20-17.
 
Harris put the game out of reach on the ensuing drive with the 70-yard interception return for the Vandals. Weaving his way through the UNC offense on the way for the score.
 
Woods rushed 23 times for 108 yards on the day. McCoy was 18-25 for 193 yards and a touchdown with one interception. Hayden Hatten recorded his 30th-career and 13th game with over 100 yards, catching six passes for 104 yards on the day.
 
Xe'Ree Alexander had a team-high 13 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss. Tommy McCormick had 11 tackles on the day. Idaho held UNC to 186 total yards, including just 55 yards passing.

Idaho is back on the road next Saturday with a game against Weber State in Ogden, Utah., at 12 p.m. pacific.
