Idaho Track Adds MVP Sprinter From Washington

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho Track and Field is excited to announce its next signee Rhyan Madden. The Vandals welcome Madden, a school record holder and MVP sprinter from Gonzaga Prep in Spokane, Washington.

Madden captured her first title as the Greater Spokane League's Girls 200m District Champion in 2022 as a junior. Madden was also named to the All-Greater Spokane League's 4x200m relay team.

As a team captain in 2023, Madden dominated the GSL Subdistrict Championships winning the 100m, 200m, 400m, and the 300m hurdles.

She was a member of the Bullpups' 300h relay championship squad while also winning the 400m race at the Greater Spokane League's district championships.

Madden earned first-team honors in the Greater Spokane League's 200m, 400m, 4x200m, and 4x100m relays en route to being named the GSL Female Sprinter of the Year. Madden also earned Honorable Mention in the 100m and 300m hurdles.

She holds Gonzaga Prep school records in the 200m (25.57), 4x200m (143.73), and 4x100m (50.19).

A two-sport athlete, Madden also averaged nine points per game for the Bullpups' Girls Basketball team in 2022-23.

Gonzaga Prep honored Madden with the 2022-2023 Denise Schlepp Award for Leadership in Women's Athletics. The award is given to multi-sport athletes who excel athletically, academically, and in the community.

Madden said what stood out to her at Idaho was "how much the coaches care about the athlete's character, academics, and well-being just as much as them as an athlete."

She plans to study business economics at Idaho.
