PHARR, Texas – The Idaho swim and dive team sits in fourth place with 65 points after a solid start on day one at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Wednesday.
The Vandals added points with the 200 medley relay team of
Ani Husaby,
Haily Oldham,
Kaling Phung and
Ella Haskins. They finished sixth overall in the event with a time of 1:42.09. The 800 freestyle relay team of
Rylie Jones,
Grace Ruble,
Bethany Rahn and
Zoe Froh followed with a sixth-place finish (7:25.54).
Emily Mack advanced to the finals in the three-meter diving competition, placing sixth with a score of 260.90 in the preliminaries to qualify. Mack found her way in the top six in the A finals after posting a score of 276.25 to finish out day one for Idaho.
The Vandals continue competition tomorrow morning with prelims for events in the 500 freestyle, 200 individual medley, 50 free and 1-meter diving, scheduled to get underway at 8:30 a.m. PT. The finals will follow in the afternoon, starting with the 200-yard free relay at 4 p.m. PT.
