MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women's basketball heads to Missoula to take on Montana for the final match of the Big Sky regular season. The Vandals will tip off against the Griz on Monday night at 6 p.m. PST. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and available via radio broadcast on AM 840 KMAX or GoVandals.com.
ABOUT IDAHO: The Big Sky standings will be determined after tomorrow's game. The Vandals have the potential to secure at least a fifth-place seed with a win and potentially a fourth-place barring a loss for Eastern Washington. Idaho currently sits fifth in the conference with a 9-8 record and a 13-15 record overall. Idaho entered the win column after defeating Idaho State and Weber State at home on Thursday and Saturday.
Beyonce Bea led the Vandals with 56 points and 18 rebounds.
Tiana Johnson was second on the team, scoring in the double digits in both games and recording eight rebounds.
The Vandals defeated Idaho State 60-54, led by Bea with 27 points and Johnson with 11. The game was a tale of two halves as Idaho shot over 53% from the field in the first half, creating a 20 point lead and then returned in the second half shooting only 23% from the field. Idaho State climbed their way back into the game, outscoring the Vandals 32-18.
On Saturday, Johnson played her final game in the ICCU, scoring 13 points. 11 different Vandals got on the scoreboard in the 22-point win over Weber State, 77-52. Bea led the court with 29 points and nine rebounds.
Rosa Smith scored 10 points as well.
Sydney Gandy tied her career-high of eight assists.
Jaiden Bea and
Skylar Bea both recorded career highs with four points apiece in the final five minutes of the game. The Vandals shot an overall percentage of 46.6% (27-58) from the field.
ABOUT MONTANA: Montana is tied with the Vandals with the same exact Big Sky and overall record. They are on a three-game losing streak, dropping the past two games at Portland State and Sacramento State. The Griz lost to the Vikings in overtime, 74-72. Four of the Griz scored in the double digits, led by Carmen Gfeller with 19. Dani Bartsch recorded a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. On Saturday, the Griz lost to Sacramento State 63-56.
Gina Marxen led Montana with 18 points. Bartsch led the team with 15 rebounds.
Sammy Fatkin leads Montana with 328 points on the season and Gfeller is right behind with 309 points. Bartsch has 209 rebounds so far this season, 50 of which are offensive.
SERIES HISTORY: Montana leads the series history against the Vandals, 44-15. The last time the teams met, the Vandals defeated Montana at home, 79-71. Idaho has only three wins at Montana in the series history and they are looking for win number four tomorrow.
