USAF ACADEMY, Colo. -- The Idaho Women's tennis squad (0-1) fell to Air Force (2-3), 5-2, in its spring season opener Thursday evening. 

Doubles play got the match started as Air Force's Abby Cotuna and Isabella Flodin beat Lena Beckx and Valentina Rodas by a score of 6-1 at No. 2, while Courtney Swift and Andrea Le topped Jayanne Palma and Selin Sepken, 6-0, securing the doubles point and building an early 1-0 advantage for the Falcons. 

Annabel Davis and Rachelle Starreveld's match versus Alexis Odom and Sydney Fitch went unfinished tied at 3-3.

Air Force continued its success in the top three spots in singles play, as Fitch defeated Davis, 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 1 position and Odom bested Rodas, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2. Idaho's Starreveld fell in three sets to Flodin, 7-5, 1-6, 7-5 in the No. 3 position.

Vandal junior Saffron Dowse found success in her singles match over Cotuna, 2-6, 6-3, 6-3, and sophomore Sepken received a win over Swift after the match was retired in the third set.

The Falcons wrapped up singles competition with Arianna Van Houweling earning a 7-6 (5), 6-1 win over Palma.

The Vandals road trip continues to the University of Wyoming on Saturday, Feb. 4. The match is set for 10 a.m. Pacific Time.
