Vandal Women's Comeback Effort Falls Short, Drops 77-70 to Sacramento State

MOSCOW, Idaho - Beyonce Bea earned her 10th double-double of the season with 24 points and 10 rebounds in the Vandals 77-70 loss to Sacramento State. The Hornets (16-6, 7-4) snapped the Idaho Vandals (9-14, 5-7) three-game win streak after a late comeback effort from Idaho.

Vandal forward Bea stamped her 10th double-double of the season and third in the past four games, with a team-high 24 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Bea's scoring effort moved her back into the top spot in the Big Sky for points per game (21.7). Two other Vandals scored in double-digit figures with freshman Rosa Smith's 11 points on 75% shooting and Sydney Gandy's 10 points. The all-around team effort found eight Vandals in the scoring column.

The Hornet squad came out hot, shooting 71% in the first quarter to take a 27-8 lead. Sacramento State took control on the glass, out rebounding Idaho 22-13 in the first half and forcing them to shoot just 26% from the field.

Despite trailing 20 points at halftime, the Idaho squad outscored the Hornets in the third quarter 23-17. Again, the Vandals surged with a 20-6 run to open the fourth quarter bringing the game within three points. The Hornets proved too strong, hitting crucial free throws down the stretch, including a four-point play from senior guard Kaylin Randhawa with just 18 seconds to play.

Sacramento State guard Kahlaijah Dean recorded a team-high 19 points and 11 boards. Forward Isnelle Natabou was the only other Hornet scoring double digits with 12 points, shooting 100% from the field.

The Vandals host Eastern Washington next Saturday in a men's and women's doubleheader. Tip off is set for 1 pm.
