LEWISTON, Idaho -- Idaho men's tennis (9-7; 2-1 BSC) was unsuccessful against No. 70 Northern Arizona (16-2; 3-0 BSC) in a 5-2 loss on Sunday afternoon at the Lewis-Clark State Tennis Center.

The Vandals day looked promising after earning two out of three wins over the Jacks to earn the doubles point. The pair of Francisco Bascon and Matteo Masala posted a 6-3 result at No. 1 before Francisco Gay and Taiyo Kurata clinched with a 6-3 decision on court two to put Idaho up 1-0. 

Entering into singles play, the Vandals used a straight-set victory by Bascon to push their lead to 2-0. Bascon earned his eighth straight singles win in a row at No. 1 with a dominant 6-1, 6-3 win over Maikel De Boes. 

Idaho went on to drop five straight matches to lose its advantage and snap its five-match win streak.

The Vandals hit the road next week with conference matches at Montana and Montana State. Idaho goes up against the Grizzlies on Friday, Apr. 7 at 10 a.m. PT before rounding out its trip versus the Bobcats on Sunday, Apr. 9 at 1 p.m. PT.
