GREELEY, Colo. – Vandal track and field closed out the first three days of the Big Sky Indoor Championships on Friday night. Katja Pattis and Mia Sylvester took home first-place finishes in their respective events. The Vandals will send 16 athletes on to the finals tomorrow.
The men finished the day placed in fifth with 16.50 points while the women sit at sixth with 21 points. Friday's events consisted of primarily preliminary rounds joined by finals in field and distance events.
Field Events
As a freshman, Mia Sylvester has dominated in the shot put. She earned first place in both indoor and outdoor this season. She secured gold with a distance of 15.43m.
On the men's side, Ruddell brought home silver in the high jump with a height of 2.05m. Joe Reiber finished in eighth place with a height of 1.97. Justyn Rogers earned a bronze medal in the long jump with a personal best distance of 7.68m. The distance ranks fifth all-time at Idaho.
Track Events
Katja Pattis earned the sole gold in the running events for the Vandals today. She earned the top spot in the 3,000m steeplechase for the first time in her career with a time of 10:51.86. On the men's side, Sam Fulbright earned seventh place with a time of 9:30.71, bringing in two points for the men's team.
The rest of the running events went through the preliminary rounds where the Vandals earned 16 spots in the finals. Tim Stevens and Shea Mattson kicked things off qualifying for the 1,500m finals with times of 4:02.59 and 3:56.36, respectively.
Moving on to the sprints, Deyondre Davis and Jurrian Hering both qualified for the 110m hurdle finals. The two both ran personal bests, with Davis clocking in at 14.32 and Hering at 13.77. Davis also qualified for the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.47.
In the 400m, Olivia Martin and Spencer Barrera will move on to the finals. Martin qualified with a time of 56.07 followed by Barrera with a time of 47.37.
Camryn Crouch will return to the finals for the 100m dash after running the second-fastest time in school history at 11.61. On the men's side, Jemini Archer qualified in the same event with a personal best time of 10.46.
Four Vandals will move on to the finals in the 800m, with three on the men's side and one for the women. Leah Holmgren advances with a time of 2:13.58. Lorenz Herrmann led the pack of Vandals with a time of 1:53.91 followed by Gage Zanette at 1:54.01 and Zac Bright at 1:54.85.
Lara Holzhauer and Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi will move on to the 400m hurdles with times of 1:03.03 and 1:03.29, respectively.
Lastly, Jemini Archer will compete in the 200m finals tomorrow with a qualifying time of 21.07. His qualifying mark is also a personal best.

The Vandals will start the last day of competition at 8:30 am PST with women's hammer throw and 1:00 pm PST with women's 4x100 relay.
