kristian GonzalezKristian Gonzalez | 6-3 | Guard | Mater Dei Catholic High School (Chula Vista, Calif.)

Gonzalez joins the Vandals after suiting up for four seasons at Mater Dei Catholic High School in Chula Vista, California

The 6-foot-3 combo guard compiled three first team all-league selections and helped lead the Crusaders to a 77-32 overall record, a 33-11 league mark and two Mesa League championships during his tenure. Gonzalez wrapped up his senior season by earning All CIF First Team and Metro League First Team honors and helped guide Mater Dei to an Open Division playoff appearance.

"Kris is a guy that came on our radar late, and we couldn't be more excited that he chose to be a Vandal. He's a big, explosive guard with a high-level skill set and a competitiveness that shows on both ends of the floor. He had a great high school career and started for one of the top AAU programs in the country - the Oakland Soldiers. He's a true student-athlete who is all about winning." -- Idaho Head Coach Alex Pribble

Gonzalez flourished during his sophomore and junior season at Mater Dei, as he averaged at least 20 points per game in consecutive years. As a sophomore, Gonzalez posted 21.9 points per game and followed that up with an average of 27.1 points before suffering a dislocated finger.

He played two years with the Oakland Soldiers, one of the top AAU programs in the country, and went on to earn a starting role during the summer of 2022 for the Soldiers' EYBL team.

Miles Klapper | 6-3 | Guard | Junipero Serra High School (Hillsborough, Calif.)miles klapper

Klapper will suit up in a Vandal uniform for the 2023-24 season after playing one year of postgraduate basketball at Bridgton Academy in North Bridgton, Maine.

"Miles is another guy who has won everywhere he's been. He has great experience playing in a terrific high school program and an elite prep school in the NEPSAC. His skill set, his basketball IQ and his competitiveness are just a few of the winning attributes that we expect him to bring to this Idaho basketball program." -- Pribble

The 6-foot-3 guard racked up postseason accolades throughout his four varsity seasons and one year in prep, earning five all-league and all-state honors.

At Bridgton, Klapper was named NEPSAC AAA All-League after averaging 17 points, six rebounds and four assists in the top conference in Maine.

Klapper, a Hillsborough, California native, closed out his four-year high school career at Junipero Serra by taking home First Team All-League, All-Metro and All-State Honorable Mention following his senior season in 2022. He posted 18 points, five rebounds and three assists per game as a senior.

Klapper competed on the AAU circuit for the Lakeshow.

kyson roseKyson Rose | 6-9 | Forward | Walla Walla Community College (Kennewick, Wash.)

Rose will arrive at Idaho as a junior after being named NWAC Player of the Year and leading Walla Walla Community College to a 24-6 overall record and an East Region second seed in the 2023 NWAC Championship tournament. He averaged the fourth most points per game in the conference with 22.6, shooting 62 percent from the field and 82 percent from the charity stripe. Rose also pulled down the second most rebounds per game in the NWAC with 10.5 per contest.

The 6-foot-9 forward scored 678 total points and made 258 field goals in 30 starts for the Warriors in 2022-23 - both marks were ranked first in the NWAC. Rose scored over 20 points in 19 contests, including a career-high 45 points in a 107-89 win over Wenatchee Valley.

"Kyson is a really important piece of the puzzle for us. His combination of size and skill was on full display this past year in the NWAC, and we expect him to make an immediate impact in our frontcourt. He is a very personable young man who is going to thrive in this Vandal community." -- Pribble

Prior to Walla Walla, Rose played two seasons at Central Washington University where he appeared in 24 games for the Wildcats.

Rose played his high school basketball at Kamiakin in Kennewick, Washington. He went on to earn All-MCC honors and a WIBCA All-Star selection after averaging 15 points and 12 rebounds per game.
