Vandals Tie the Wolfpack 1-1 Thursday Night at Home

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Vandals (3-1-1) came from a first-half deficit to complete their first draw of the season hosting the Nevada Wolfpack (0-2-3) Thursday night at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome.

In tonight's draw, freshman Izzy Thoma made her first career start for the Vandals. Alyssa Peters recorded her second assist of the season moving up to No. 9 in the Idaho record book with 12 career assists.

The first half proved to be unsuccessful for the Vandals as they struggled to connect on goal. Idaho's lone shot on goal came from senior forward Jadyn Hanks. Despite their five corner opportunities, the Nevada defense limited all efforts on the Vandal front. Nevada's veteran midfielder Luz Arreaga found the back of the net with help from sophomore defender Abigail Souza in the 25th minute.

The second half proved to be a different story for Idaho as they dominated the possession for the remaining 45 minutes. Idaho kept the ball on Nevada's defensive half for the majority of the time creating chance after chance.

The Vandal pressure paid off in the 78th minute with help from junior forward Annika Farley who scored her second goal of the year. Hanks redirected a failed Nevada clearance back to Peters who crossed it into Farley. Farley headed the cross into the far post beating Nevada's keeper. They continued the pressure but were unable to find the go-ahead goal.

The Vandals are back in action on September 7th at CSUN at 5:00 p.m.
