MOSCOW, Idaho - The Vandal soccer team is on the road this week to face California State University Northridge on September 7th at 5:00 p.m. The Vandals will face the University of California Santa Barbara on September 10th at noon to conclude the road trip. Both games will be featured on ESPN+.
ABOUT IDAHO: Idaho soccer played Nevada on Thursday night (8/31) in the P1FCU Kibbie Dome. The lone match of the weekend ended in a 1-1 draw. The Vandals came back from a first-half deficit to earn their first tie of the season. Idaho enters the weekend with a 3-1-1 record and a 2-0 record on the road.
Freshman, Izzy Thoma made her first career start for the Vandals. Annika Farley notched her second goal of the season in the 78th minute with a header off a cross from Alyssa Peters. Peters entered the Idaho record book at No. 9 with 12 career assists. Farley currently leads Idaho with five points this season and is tied with Jayd Sprague with two goals.
ABOUT CSUN: The Matadors enter the weekend with a 0-5-1 record. This past weekend CSUN faced Seattle U and Washington, a duo that the Vandals faced in August. Both teams defeated CSUN 3-0. The Matadors have yet to score this season and earned their only point with a 0-0 draw at UNLV.
CSUN has the lead in the all-time series 1-4-0 against the Vandals. In the last four matches, the Matadors have come out victorious featuring three wins in Northridge, Calif. The series began in 2001 and the most recent match was in 2006.
ABOUT UCSB: UCSB enters the weekend with a 1-2-3 overall record and 1-0 at home. This past weekend, the Gauchos went on the road to take on the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Iowa State. UCSB lost to UNO 0-1 and tied Iowa State 2-2. Before the Gauchos face the Vandals on Sunday, they will host San Francisco on Thursday night.
The teams have faced off four times in series history. The Gauchos lead the series 2-1-1. The Vandals faced UCSB last season ending in a 1-0 victory for Idaho at home. The Gauchos defeated Idaho 3-0 in the lone match hosted in Santa Barbara.
