Vandals WBB Hosts EWU in Doubleheader

MOSCOW, Idaho - The Vandal women's basketball team will kick off a doubleheader vs. Eastern Washington University at 1 p.m. PST on Saturday, January 13th in the ICCU Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+, aired on SWX/KHQ, and can be heard on AM 840 KMAX or GoVandals.com.

ABOUT IDAHO: The Idaho women's basketball team is 2-0 in conference play so far this season. This past weekend the Vandals continued their winning streak by beating the University of Denver, 60-51 and Chicago State, 80-52. In the game against the Chicago State Cougars, Jenna Kilty led the team with 14 points with Kennedy Johnson trailing just behind with 11 points. Hope Butera led the team with seven rebounds.

Idaho is 2-0 in conference play for the second consecutive season. Since rejoining the Big Sky in 2014 the Vandals have had a 2-0 start four times and it is the seventh time overall in the Big Sky conference. If Idaho improves to 3-0, it will be the best start since the 2018-19 season.

The program reached its highest NET ranking ever this past week at 125 following the five-game win streak. The Eagles will be Idaho's highest-ranked opponent this season in the NET at 65.

ABOUT EASTERN WASHINGTON: The Eagles are 2-0 so far in conference play and are fresh off a six-game winning streak. They are currently ranked No. 1 in the Big Sky Conference and are No. 24 in mid-range rankings. This past weekend Eastern Washington played in the Big Sky - Summit League Challenge and won both of their games. The Eagles beat Omaha, 96-82 and North Dakota, 72-65. The Eagle's leading scorers for the Omaha game were Jaleesa Lawrence with 23 points and 22 points by Jacinta Buckley. The following game vs. North Dakota the leading scorer was Aaliyah Alexander, tallying 18 points and leading her team in rebounds (14).

HISTORY: Idaho and Eastern have both played two conference games so far. They have each played and won against Sacramento State and Portland State. Eastern beat the two teams by a combined 37 points whereas Idaho beat the teams with a combined 43 points.

Idaho and EWU have a long-standing rivalry. The overall record between the two teams is 42-43 with the Eagles up by one win. The last time the Vandals and Eagles went head-to-head it ended with a win for Idaho 88-64.
