PULLMAN, Wash. – Idaho women's tennis (0-1) fell to Washington State (2-0), 5-2 to open the 2024 spring schedule on Saturday afternoon at Hollingbery Fieldhouse.
Idaho gained momentum early on by earning the doubles point to go up, 1-0. The No. 2 and 3 positions were victorious for the Vandals to help claim the early lead as duo
Lena Beckx and
Rachelle Starreveld won on court three (7-6) before
Naomi Schraeder and
Valentina Rodas clinched with a 7-5 victory on court three.
In singles, Schraeder earned the second point for Idaho, taking down Hania Abouelsaad in a three-set thriller to close out action. Schraeder posted a 6-3 result in the first set before falling in the second, 5-7. The third saw Schraeder preserve past Abouelsaad with a 10-5 tiebreak to earn her first collegiate dual victory.
