MOSCOW, Idaho -- Idaho men's basketball (7-13, 1-6 BSC) fell to Northern Colorado (12-8, 5-2 BSC), 89-68 on Saturday afternoon at the ICCU Arena.
Quinn Denker led Idaho's offense tonight with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting and six assists.
Terren Frank followed with 13 points and two steals while
Tyler Linhardt added 10 points.
The Vandals and Bears traded baskets over the first four minutes of action as Northern Colorado carried a slight 10-6 advantage in the early going. Linhardt drilled back-to-back threes to help bring the score to even at 12-12 with 15:07 to go. UNC held at least a two-possession lead for the next eight minutes before starting an 11-2 spurt to build a 14-point advantage with 5:33 remaining in the first.
The Vandals didn't go away as Frank helped highlight a 15-2 run to make it a one-point game. He scored 10 of Idaho's 15 points while forcing two steals to make it 40-39 with under one minute to go. The Bears knocked down a three to head into halftime up 43-39.
A layup from Linhardt jump-started the second half, followed by three straight buckets from Denker to bring the game back to one (48-49) with 17:30 to go. Idaho kept it a two-score deficit over the next six minutes before Northern Colorado put the game out of reach scoring 22 of the next 26 points to increase its lead to 79-58. The Vandals were unable to create any kind of comeback as UNC earned an 89-68 victory.
The Bears outrebounded Idaho 38-21 and scored 14 points off Idaho's 10 turnovers. They shot 57.1 percent (36-63) from the field and 40.7 percent (11-27) from three.
The Bears were led by Saint Thomas, who had 20 points, 13 rebounds, and 8 assists.
