BOZEMAN, Idaho – Idaho volleyball lost to Montana State in three sets, 17-25, 19-25, 17-25 on Saturday afternoon at Shroyer Gym.
Zuzanna Wieczorek led the team with nine kills on a .238 hitting percentage while
Taylor Brickey followed with eight kills.
Miya Carmichael posted 27 assists and three kills in the effort.
Ceren Sert tallied six blocks and Wieczorek supplied five more blocks to lead the Vandal defense.
Montana State posted an opening set victory, 25-17. Idaho forced the Bobcats to hit .160 in the opening frame and tallied 5.5 blocks to keep the set within striking distance. After the Vandals used a 6-3 run to make it a two-point match (17-19), the Bobcats took the momentum back to close out the set with a 6-0 spurt to take a 1-0 lead.
The Vandals fell in the second frame, 19-25. It was a slow start out of the gate for the Vandals as MSU went up 5-2 and later increased its lead to 12-5. Idaho whittled away at its deficit with success on the attack as nine of their 12 points were tallied as kills to make it 17-21. The Bobcats closed the set by scoring four of the next six points to make it 2-0. Idaho provided 15 kills and hit .367 in the frame while MSU only had three attack errors and posted a .448 hitting percentage.
Idaho dropped the third set, 17-25, to move to 1-15 overall and 0-5 in conference play. The Vandals allowed the Montana State offense to hit .517 and record 18 kills to earn the sweep.
