MOSCOW, Idaho – The Vandal cross country team closes out their regular season schedule in Lewiston, Idaho at the LC State Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 19.
The women's 5K race gets underway at 9:45 a.m., with the men's 8K beginning at 10:45 a.m. Both races will be contested on the LC State Cross Country Trail, as Idaho faces fellow Big Sky members Eastern Washington, Idaho State, and Montana. The field will be filled out by other Division 1 schools, as well as regional NAIA competition.
The Vandals last competed in Springfield, Ore. at the Bill Dellinger Invitational against a stacked entry list with a handful of top-30 teams. The Idaho women finished the 6k in 12th place, led by graduate Maya Kobylanski's finish in 41st (17:44.9). For the men, Lorenz Herrmann was the fastest Vandal, racing to an 8K time of 24:22.8.
A year ago in Lewiston, the Vandal women claimed the top spot in the invitational, while the men's team grabbed a podium place in third. Leah Holmgren set a 5K personal best of 17:12 to take home a third place finish while the Vandals secured three of the top 5 spots. On the men's side, Sam Fulbright looks to repeat his seventh place finish (24:30).
This meet is Idaho's last tune-up before the Big Sky Championships in Pocatello on Friday, November 1.
