Last Time Out
The Vandals fell in a road contest to Washington State on Monday, 90-67.
Isaiah Brickner led the Vandal offense in his first start of the season, delivering a team-high 13 points on 5-of-8 from the field and 3 for 3 from three.
Julius Mims was another bright spot for the Vandals with 11 points and 11 rebounds to secure his first double-double of the season.
Offensively, Idaho struggled to find a groove knocking down shots and rebounding the basketball. UI shot 36 percent (23-63) from the field and was outrebounded, 45-29.
The Series
The Vandals meet the Cougars for the sixth time since their first meeting in 1938. Idaho trails 2-3 in the series with their last victory coming from a 42-41 result at the Helms Foundation Invitational Tournament in Los Angeles on December 29, 1947.
UI looks to snap a two-game losing streak as the Cougars earned a 70-48 home victory last time out on December 15, 2001.
Scouting the Cougars
BYU starts the season 3-0 after wins at home over Central Arkansas (88-55), UC Riverside (86-80) and Queens (99-55).
The Cougars went 23-11 overall and 10-8 in the Big 12 in the 2023-24 season. They fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Duquesne.
BYU was tabbed ninth in the Big 12 Preseason Poll. The Cougars return eight letterwinners including All-Big 12 Honorable Mention recipients in Fousseyni Traore and Dallin Hall.
Through three games, 6-9 guard Egor Demin leads the BYU scoring attack at 17.3 ppg. The projected lottery pick in the 2025 NBA Draft also shoots 63.6 percent from the field and dishes out 7.7 assists per game. Richie Saunders and Kanon Catchings follow in the scoring column with an average of 11.7 ppg.

Through three games, eight different Vandals have scored in double digits.
In the Vandals' season-opening 96-60 win over Northwest,
Isaiah Brickner (20),
Jack Payne (14),
Kolton Mitchell (12), Kristian Gonzales (10) and
Titus Yearout (10) all contributed with at least 10 points.
In a home contest against UC Davis,
Tyler Mrus (17),
Kyson Rose (12) and
Julius Mims (11) added double-figure performances.
