PORTLAND – The Vandals dropped a road match in straight sets at Portland State, 14-25, 19-25, 8-25 on Saturday night at Viking Pavilion.
Taylor Brickey and
Chiara Gennari led the Vandal offense with six kills each while Brickey added nine digs.
Lauryn Arnold and
Ceren Sert protected the net with three blocks apiece.
Portland State won the first set, 25-14. Idaho posted eight kills, five attack errors and two blocks in the set. The Vikings used a pair of 6-0 runs to create separation and earn a 1-0 lead in the early going.
PSU took the second set, 25-19. Idaho pressured Portland State into only 11 kills, six attack errors and a .192 attack percentage but the Vandal defense allowed six aces to surrender set two.
PSU completed the sweep with a 25-8 win in the third frame. The Vandals struggled to find their rhythm, as the Vikings initiated a 7-0 run early and scored nine of the last 11 points to secure a 3-0 victory.
The Vandals return to Memorial Gym for their final two home games of the year, welcoming Montana State (Nov. 7) and Montana (Nov. 9) for Senior Day.
