POCATELLO, Idaho – Nate Thomas rushed for 171 yards on 21 carries,
Jack Layne passed for 234 yards and three touchdowns and
Andrew Marshall had 181 kick return yards and a touchdown while the Vandal defense added three interceptions as Idaho rolled to a 40-17 win over Idaho State Saturday at the ICCU Dome in Pocatello.
The Vandals scored on their first two drives and built a 10-0 lead before Idaho State responded with a touchdown late in the second quarter, but a Marshall kick return put Idaho in position for a quick touchdown.
Mark Hamper found the end zone on a 15-yard screen play td with just 38 seconds left to play in the half to put Idaho up 17-7. The Bengals drove to the one-yard line, but the Vandal defense held at the end of the half to take the 10-point lead into the break.
Marshall returned the second half kickoff out of the end zone for a 100-yard touchdown return to put Idaho up 24-7.
The Bengals added a field goal before
Jordan Dwyer caught a nine-yard touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone to extend the lead to 30-10. Dwyer's catch was one of 11 on the day that saw him rack up 134 yards.

With the win, Idaho has won nine games in the regular-season heads into selection Sunday with five-straight wins.
The Vandals learn their playoff fate Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. pacific time. The selection show will be broadcast on ESPNU.
