MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho redshirt freshman receiver
Mark Hamper has been named a Jerry Rice Award Finalist by Stats Perform, the organization announced Monday.
The award honors the best freshman or redshirt freshman player in the FCS.
Hamper, the Vandals leading receiver when it comes to yards, has racked up 41 catches for 858 yards and five touchdowns. His 20.9 yards per catch sits fifth in the FCS in yards per reception.
He earned Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week honors after his week 11 game that saw him catch eight passes for 187 yards and three touchdowns against Weber State.
He has caught four touchdowns in just the last two games.
He had 100-yard receiving games against Cal Poly (103) and Weber State. He has multiple catches in every game this season.
Hamper follows former Vandal quarterback
Gevani McCoy who won the Jerry Rice Award in 2022.
The Vandals finished the regular season with a 9-3 record and earned a the No. 8 seed and a first round by into the FCS Playoffs. Idaho will host the winner of the Richmond/Lehigh game at the P1FCU Kibbie Dome on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. Season ticket holders have until Wednesday at 12 p.m. to secure their playoff tickets, the remaining tickets go on sale Wednesday to the general public.
