MOSCOW, Idaho -- Four Vandals scored in double figures and the Idaho men's basketball team knocked down 12 shots from behind the arc, but allowed UC Davis to battle back from a second-half deficit and earn a 79-75 win on Thursday night in the ICCU Arena.
Neither side contained more than a two-possession advantage in the final 5:49 to play.
Idaho led for over 29 minutes and contained an eight-point edge (70-62) with 6:15 to play but allowed foul trouble, free-throw shooting and turnovers to contribute to an Aggie comeback. The Vandals shot 15-of-25 from the foul line, suffered 18 turnovers and allowed 13 second-chance points.
It was difficult for the Idaho offense to find a rhythm late in the game, being outscored by UC Davis 20-7 in the last 7:46. The difference would come from the charity stripe as UC Davis shot 76.9 percent from the line, while Idaho only shot 60 percent.
After
Julius Mims and
Kyson Rose fouled out in the final four minutes, the Vandals couldn't keep the Aggies off the glass and size proved to be a deciding factor down the stretch as the Aggies held on until the final buzzer.
UC Davis senior guard TY Johnson posted 30 points while senior forward Pablo Tamba added 17.
