SPOKANE, Washington - Idaho Track and Field finished the Riverfront Invitational Saturday night after two days of competition at The Podium in Spokane, Washington.
Mia Sylvester secured another title and broke her own record in the women's weight throw at 20.03m on Friday. The sophomore scored the Idaho record at an 18.77m mark at last week's Inland Northwest Invitational. Returning to The Podium for the Riverfront Invitational on Friday, Sylvester threw at least 19m on every attempt and now sits with an all-time Vandal record of 20.03m.
Sylvester also finished fourth in the women's shot put on Saturday, throwing 14.57m.
Hannah Russell took fifth in the women's 800m on Friday with a season-best, 2:13.98.
In the men's 800m,
Lorenz Herrmann scored his third title in three meets this year. Herrmann finished the 800m at a 1:48.71 mark, the best mark in the Big Sky and 25th in the nation this year. Junior
Zac Bright followed a second behind at 1:49.95, earning a silver medal with the second fastest time in the conference in 2023-24.
Freshman
McKenna Kozeluh ran a personal best, 17:24.30 in the women's 5000m.
Jurrian Hering was first to reach the podium for the Vandals on Saturday. Hering ran a personal-best 7.87 in the men's 60 meter hurdles, the second fastest time in the Big Sky this year.Â
Spencer Barrera notched a season-best 47.74 for second place in the men's 400m. His mark stands at third in the conference in 2023-24.
In the field, senior
Ellie Grant tallied a personal best, 1.66m in the women's high jump. She now ranks seventh in the conference.
Noah Culbertson scored his third first-place finish in the men's shot put this year. The junior matched his indoor personal record of 17.69m. Culbertson previously held the best mark in the conference at 17.45m as he continues to separate himself at the top this year.
Simone Fedel finished third (14.34m) in the men's triple jump for his third podium finish this year.
The women's 4x400m relay team of
Camryn Crouch,
Olivia Martin,
Franziska Stoehr, and
Prabhasha Wickramaraachchi finished second at a 3:42.60 mark. The squad recorded the second fastest time in Idaho history and the second fastest time in the Big Sky this year.Â
Barrera, Herrmann,
Jake Hisaw, and
Jon Watkins completed the men's 4x400m relay at 3:15.11 for second place. It's the ninth fastest mark in the Vandal record books.Â
Next week, the Vandals will split squads competing at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico, the David Hemery Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University, and the Whitworth Indoor Invitational at The Podium in Spokane, Washington.
