Idaho Cross Country Signs Colorado Standout

MOSCOW, Idaho - Idaho Track and Field/Cross Country has added another talented distance athlete, Malia Chipouras of Boulder, Colorado. Chipouras is a two-time all-conference athlete bringing her talents to the Palouse.

Chipouras achieved three third-place finishes in her senior cross-country season with the Boulder Panthers. Her personal best came at the Pat Amato Classic & Front Range League Championships with an 18:43 5K crossing the tape tenth. At the 2023 Colorado 5A Region 5K, Chipouras ran a 19:02 finishing third and helping the Panthers earn Regional honors. She was named a Front Range All-Conference Athlete.

As a junior in 2022, Chipouras earned her first Front Range All-Conference honors highlighted by an eighth-place finish at the Colorado 5A Regional 5K finishing at a 19:30.9 mark.

Chipouras was a Panther team captain as a junior and senior while winning the school's Heart of the Panther award all four years. Chipouras is also an AP Scholar with Distinction earning an average of 3.5 on all AP exams completed while scoring at least a 3 on five or more exams. 

"I chose U of I because of the thoughtful coaches, great academic opportunities, and strong team culture," said Chipouras. She plans to study Medical Sciences when she joins the Vandals this fall.
