MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho swim and dive head coach Mark Sowa is excited to announce the addition of transfer Silvana Cabrera.
Cabrera, a standout swimmer from Lima, Peru, heads to Idaho after becoming a school record holder and earning Atlantic 10 honors at Saint Bonaventure over four seasons. She specializes in the butterfly and individual medley events.
The Atlantic 10 conference named Cabrera Performer of the Week on Feb. 6 after posting a conference-best and personal high time of 58.29 in the 100 IM.
The redshirt junior went on to break a school record in the 200 fly (1:59.70) and place fourth at the A-10 Championships in 2023. The following year saw Cabrera also place fifth in the 100 fly with a mark of 53.97, which would surpass a school record time at Idaho (54.29).
That wasn't the only mark Cabrera made in her time at St. Bonaventure, as she also won a combined 29 individual races and placed in the top 8 in five races at the conference championships.
She excelled not only in the pool but also in the classroom, earning a spot on the 2022-23 CSC Academic All-District team and Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll twice.
