Vandal Soccer Announces 2024 Signee Class

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho soccer team is thrilled to announce the addition of eight signees to the 2024 prep signing class. The group includes one from Idaho, four from California, one from Illinois, and two from Washington.

Delaney Barbee • Forward • Legends FC ECNL • Redlands East Valley HS • Redlands, Calif.Barbee

Delaney Barbee made an early move to Idaho to join the Vandals for the spring semester. Barbee was named the Offensive MVP for three consecutive years on her high school team. She also snagged All CBL First Team honors during those same years. In club play, Barbee received U16 Southwest All-Conference honors.

Barbee played for Legends FC ECNL alongside her high school team. She dreams of becoming a PA, specializing in trauma after completing college.

"Delaney was able to join us in the spring. We have seen so much growth in her over this spring semester. Delaney is a super-fast forward who will immediately put pressure on the back-line. She has developed a great ability to press the back-line. One of the most impressive traits of Delaney is her ability to find the back of the net. She is a natural goal scorer, and we are excited to see her continued development this Fall." – Clevenger
 

Naomi Kessler • Forward • Indie Chicas • Owyhee HS • Lewiston, IdahoKessler

Naomi Kessler traveled north and joined the Vandals for the spring semester. Kessler helped lead Owyhee Girls Soccer to the 5A Idaho State Championship, upsetting defending champ Boise in the final for the school's first-ever state title. In the process, Kessler was named to the Southern Conference Second Team. 

Kessler played club for the Indie Chicas in Meridian during her high school years. Kessler hopes to get a CPA and be a private or corporate accountant after graduating from college. 

"Naomi is another player that joined us this spring. One of the first things you notice about Naomi is her technical skills and ability to get out of pressure. Out of high school, Naomi was a pure goal scorer, finishing anything that came to her in the attacking third. We have seen tremendous growth in her this spring semester and look forward to her attacking skill-set this fall." – Clevenger

Hallie Prinos-Grumbach • Defense • Crossfire Premier ECNL • Redmond HS • Redmond, Wash.Hallie

Hallie Prinos-Grumbach joins the Vandals' back line with plenty of experience. Grumbach was the top-assister during the 2022 season for her high school. She was also dubbed Midfielder of the Year. Grumbach stood out on her club team where she was ECNL All-American and helped her team to both an Elite 8 and Sweet 16 finish in ECNL Nationals. 

Grumbach competed for Crossfire Premier ECNL throughout high school. She comes to Idaho with the desire to pursue a degree in architecture.

"Hallie is a play-maker and connector in the midfield. She is very technical and can take over games when she gets on the ball. Hallie can be like a mini quarterback with her vision and awareness. We are very excited to add her to our midfield." – Clevenger

Ella Martin • Goalkeeper • Eastside FC ECNL • Mercer Island HS • Mercer Island, Wash.Ella

Ella Martin joins the Vandals as the latest goalkeeper addition. Martin was a dominant shot-stopper on her high school team and was named MVP of the Year by her coaches. She topped off an impressive high school career earning recognition as 3A All-KingCo honorable mention. 

Martin was involved in club play where she protected the net for Eastside FC ECNL. Off the field, she is an AP Scholar who intends to become a sports medicine physician after earning her degree.

"Ella is going to be a fantastic addition to our GKs. Ella is an all-around goalkeeper. She has the ability to make high-end saves, but she is also very consistent. She is very strong and confident in her communication." – Clevenger

Taylor Ingersol • Defense • City SC San Diego • Carlsbad HS • Carlsbad, Calif.Taylor

Taylor Ingersol is headed to Idaho to bring strength to the Vandal's back-line. She competed on the club level for City SC San Diego where she played a crucial role in the defensive effort during the fall season, letting in only five goals in eight games.

She played on her high school varsity team alongside her club involvement. She comes to Idaho with the hope of becoming a business owner in the future. 

"Taylor is an extremely talented defender that will bolster our back-line. Taylor is so comfortable on the ball and loves to get into the attack. She has so many ways to impact a game and we are looking forward to her making a splash right away." -Clevenger

Bella Gissendanner • Forward • Slammers FC ECNL • Santa Margarita Catholic HS • Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.Bella

Bella Gissendanner makes her way to Idaho after building an impressive resume in high school. Gissendanner was captain of her high school team where she helped rally her team to claim back-to-back CIF State So Cal Regional Div. I titles. The team made their run winning the Trinity League and CIF Regional State Championship before snagging the title. Gissendanner also received Trinity League Second Team honors.

Gissendanner participated in club action playing for Slammers FC ECNL. She plans on receiving a degree that she can use to eventually own her own business.  

"Bella is a great addition to our program. She is a very athletic player who loves to get up and down the field. We are looking forward to adding a box-to-box player to our team and think she will give us a big spark to the program." – Clevenger

Sophia Sick • Forward • De Anza Force Soccer Club ECNL • Leland HS • San Jose, Calif. Sophia

Sophia Sick is bound for Idaho, bringing with her a diverse athletic portfolio. Sick competed at the varsity level for soccer, volleyball, dance, and diving throughout high school which earned her All-Star Athlete of the Year in 2023. In soccer, she was a 4-year starter and named BVAL Sophomore of the Year after scoring a league-high 19 goals in the 2021-2022 season. 

She also competed for De Anza Force Soccer Club ECNL, making the ODP State Team in 2020. Sick heads to Idaho with an open mind for her academic pursuits. 

"Sophie is an exciting player that can play multiple positions. Sophie is a great combination of speed and technical ability. She has the skills to pass around you, with the speed to run by you.  We look forward to Sophie contributing to our forward and midfield positions." - Clevenger

Basie Shannon • Defense/Midfield • Chicago FC UniBasieted • New Trier HS • Northfield, Ill. 

Basie Shannon is headed out West to begin her journey as a Vandal. Shannon played for Chicago FC United where she qualified for the Girls Academy Champions Cup in 2022. During the same year, she captained the U16 Maccabiah USA team guiding them to a gold medal finish in the Maccabiah World Games. 

She attended New Trier High School while competing on her club team year-round. 

"Basie came to our summer camp and immediately impressed our staff. She is tall, athletic, good in 1v1 situations, and great in the air. Basie is exactly what we look for in players down the spine of the team. We can't wait for Basie to join us this fall." – Clevenger
