SPOKANE, Wash. – The Idaho Vandal football team was picked third in both the coaches and the media preseason poll, released by the Big Sky Conference Sunday at the Big Sky Kickoff in Spokane, Washington.
Idaho, coming off its first FCS Quarterfinals appearance since 1993, was picked third behind defending FCS runner-up Montana and another playoff team in Montana State.
The Vandals return a solid and experienced core on defense but lost most of last seasons' offensive firepower and doesn't have a single senior offensive player on the roster.
UC Davis and Sacramento State round out a top-five that is the same in both polls.
The Vandals open fall practice on Wednesday, July 31.
