Doherty Set to Compete at U20 World Championships

MOSCOW, Idaho – Incoming Vandal track and field athlete, Jesuye Doherty is set to compete for his home country of Australia in the upcoming World Athletics U20 Championships in Lima, Peru.  

Doherty was named a U20 Australian National Long Jump Champion after a record performance in April of 2023. Scoring 7.25m at Australia's U20 Championships, he secured the first-place position and his title. Since then, he has hit a new personal best of 7.57m while competing at the 2024 Chemist Warehouse Australian Athletics Championships.  

Doherty has received multiple accolades for his success, including being named Hughes and Loveday Sports' Person of the Year in 2022 as well as receiving the 2023 Saint Peters Jumps Trophy.  

The 19-year-old is scheduled to compete in the long jump with the qualification round beginning on Thursday, August 29th at 9:40 am PST.
