MOSCOW, Idaho - After a strong opening showing in which multiple diving records were rewritten, Idaho Swim and Dive continued its season by traveling to a foe familiar to the institution across multiple conferences, Northern Colorado. Along with joining the Vandals in the move to the MPSF in time for this season, UNC competes with UI in their other varsity sports in the Big Sky Conference. 

Within the confines of Butler-Hancock Pool, Idaho recorded lots of top marks between the lanes and from the boards, but the final score ultimately went the way of the hosts, 188-112. 

Despite the tally, the meet was not without its wins for the Vandals. Maya Salvitti, fresh off a 1-meter dive performance that introduced her to the school's record books, climbed from 10th to 3rd in the event with a score of 309.75. Alongside freshman Kelly Mejorada, who set a school record in her first meet in Caldwell, Salvitti has now made her mark at the top of Idaho's records and also earned a spot in Zone E of the NCAA Championships. 

Junior Amelia Ward recorded top three finishes in both the 1M and 3M dive with scores of 279.30 and 260.78, respectively.

In the swimming portion, the top performer for the Vandals was junior record-setter Ginger Kiefer, who tallied two first place finishes as well as a second and third overall, as well as the best overall performance by an Idaho swimmer with a time of 2:07.80 in the 200-yard individual medley, nearly two full seconds improved from her mark in the same event in Caldwell. 

Junior Isabelle Borke continued to build upon what has been a career season with a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle (1:54.94) as well as a trio of second place marks in the 100 free (53.09), 50 free (24.51), and a 52.28 split in the 400 yard free relay. All but the relay performance were season bests. Courtney Crawford took home silver in the 200 yard breaststroke (2:24.76) and bronze in 100 yard rendition (1:05.41). 

UP NEXT
Idaho returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, with much of the team westbound for Seattle, WA for a dual meet with Seattle U in the Redhawk Center. However, Ginger Kiefer will travel separately to Woodland, CA to compete in the MPSF Open Water Championships for another year in a row, a meet she took home the top spot in in 2024.
