MISSOULA, Mont. – Zoe Newell finished in a tie for second place and the Idaho women's golf team tied for third at the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate at the Ranch Club in Missoula, Montana.
Newell closed the tournament one-over to lead the Vandals. It is her second top-five finish in four tournaments this season. She tallied 12 birdies on the weekend which was highlighted by a one-under 71 in the second round.
Inkjung Charnchanayothin had the best performance of her freshman season so far, tying for 12th overall with seven-over for the weekend. Laura Caamaño tied for 15th at eight-over.
Kaylin Johnson and
Ella Kozak tied for 20th at 11-over to close out the scoring.
Boram Jung, golfing as an individual, tied for 22nd at 12-over for the week.
The Vandals finished third at 23-over as a team, beating their best score as a team this fall, the Kalispel Invite, by one stroke.
Idaho closes out the fall schedule on Oct. 20-22 at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational in Hawaii.
