MOSCOW, Idaho - In the final weekend of the 2025 season, Idaho Volleyball hosted Portland State for the next to last match of the year, playing one of the most complete matches as a team so far this year and recording the first home sweep for the program since the 2021 campaign.
The Vandal defense was on point all night, giving the Vikings fits through all three sets in Memorial Gym, including forcing set and attack errors in the first few points of the first, preventing the opponents from getting into any sort of rhythm. Cayton White and Kiana Greer led the way offensively, while Sarah Sullivan added a service ace and a trio of kills of her own to take an early lead. Drawing the start, Zuzanna Whitman put down two kills in the final five points to cement the set for the Vandals.
The second started with some adversity, as untimely errors and pressure from the Vikings put Idaho in an early 12-5 hole. To say the Vandals climbed out would be a big understatement, as Greer, White, and Koen Makaula turned up the heat, propelling the Brave and Bold to straight runs of five, three, three, and four between PSU points to surge back to a 20-15 lead. Makaula put down a kill between Viking points and the Vandals took four of the final five to go up 2-0.
The final frame started strong with back to back 4-1 runs for Idaho. Portland State came back to make it a neck-and-neck contest, but the hosts took five in a row to go up 24-18. PSU put up four in a row to add some tension, but Greer put away the final kill to cement the sweep.
