QUOTABLES
Great weekend for us in California.  I feel like every game we play, we keep improving and getting better as a team. We played two completely different styles and have a lot to clean up, but I was very happy with how we competed.
Playing back-to-back days without time to prepare for the second game simulates what we will face in Boise for Starch Madness, so it was a great opportunity for us to get an early look at that. – Arthur Moreira

IRVINE, Calif. – It wasn't wire-to-wire, but it was awfully close as the Idaho Vandals women's basketball team rolled to another victory, this time an 83-61 win over Wichita State to close out the ZotGiving Classic.

Wichita State struck first to grab the early 2-0 lead – the Shockers only lead of the game – but Lorena Barbosa scored four-straight points to give Idaho a lead that it would never relinquish. The Vandals got out of the first quarter with a 23-17 lead, highlighted by six points from Lorena Barbosa

The second period opened with a bang, as Hope Hassmann splashed a three just 12 seconds into the quarter. She then hit another just a couple minutes later to extend Idaho's lead to 29-23.

Hassmann connected on a trio of triples in the second to give her 11 points at the half, and Idaho took a big 16-point lead to the locker rooms. UI closed the half on a 16-3 run and held the Shockers to just one made field goal on their final 14 attempts of the half.

Kyra Gardner scored eight of her game-high 21 points in the third, highlighted by a pair of three-point bombs, and Idaho had a 61-43 advantage going to the final frame in Irvine.

The Vandal lead ballooned to as much as 26 points following an Ella Uriarte three ball with 7:47 left in the game, and it was smooth sailing for head coach Arthur Moreira and company as Idaho (7-1) went on to seal its sixth victory in a row with the final score of 83-61.

UP NEXT: The Vandals return home where they will play in their first game of the the 2025 Big Sky-Summit Challenge against Oral Roberts. The game will take place in ICCU Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 11 a.m., and can be seen on ESPN+. The Vandals will be hosting their education game.
