GAME NOTES (PDF)
DAVIS, Calif. – Idaho Vandals women's basketball (1-0) is on the road to Davis, Calif. where it will take on the UC Davis Aggies (1-0) for its second game of the season.
Tipoff is set for 11 a.m. Greg Wong and Ashlee Jones will be on the call on ESPN+, Doug Taylor, the Voice of the Vandals, can be heard on the radio.
After making national news following their dramatic come-from-behind victory at Washington State to start the season, the Vandals look to keep momentum and record their first-ever win against UC Davis. Idaho's win against Washington State was the first win over the Cougars in 22 years and it came in the most dramatic fashion. After trailing by 15 on several occasions, Idaho, with a career game from former Washington State student-athlete
Kyra Gardner and all-conference guard
Hope Hassmann, came storming back to win 87-85.
Gardner recorded career highs in points, rebounds, made three pointers, and steals in her first career start. Hassmann contributed 17 points and dished out a team-high four assists. Sophomore forward
Ana Pinheiro also had a career day, scoring a new personal best of 16 points.
The Vandals' next game is the third meeting in series history against UC Davis, the two teams met in ICCU Arena last season. The Aggies recorded a 72-35 win over Jessup in their season opener, and is coming off a season in which they won 21 games and advanced to the Big West Conference Tournament Championship game.
