MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho shot a season-low 20.6% from the field and, despite a solid defensive performance, the Vandals fell to Idaho State 52-44 Saturday afternoon.
The Bengal defense was operating at a high level, but the two teams battled back and forth until Idaho State closed the first half on a 7-0 run to take a 27-22 lead into the half. The Bengals outscored Idaho 14-7 in the third quarter and the Vandals couldn't recover as ISU closed out the eight-point win.
Olivia Nelson continued her solid play with a team-high 14 points. The Vandals held Idaho State to just five three-point attempts and forced 20 turnovers, but couldn't muster enough offense to take advantage of the low scoring by the Bengals
The Vandals are now 15-6 and 7-3 in Big Sky play on the season and now head on the road for three consecutive games, beginning at Portland State on Feb. 6.
