MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho women's basketball head coach,
Arthur Moreira, tied legendary coach Tara Vanderveer for most wins by a first-year Idaho head coach, as the Vandals defeated Northern Colorado, 77-59.
The Vandals hit the ground running, with
Olivia Nelson putting the first points on the board. This momentum carried Idaho through the first quarter, driving them to put up 20 points to Northern Colorado's 16.

Eager to widen the gap, the Vandals locked down defensively, featuring a steal from
Hope Hassmann early in the second quarter followed closely by another from
Rosie Schweizer. On the attack, Nelson put up 10 points for Idaho to secure an 11-point lead at the half.
Desperate to stay in the game, the Bears' offense managed to temporarily shrink the gap to three points (43-40) early in the third quarter, before the Vandals countered with a seven-point run. Holding onto their edge, Idaho was able to come out of the period with a 54-45 edge.
The black and gold maintained their high speed of play throughout the final quarter, dropping 22 points. Late in the fourth quarter, Nelson scored a layup through traffic to give her a new career high of 31 points, as the Vandals got back in the winning column.Â
