Hassmann started the game with the hot hand for the Vandals, tallying five points in the opening three minutes, but a strong shooting effort by the Griz meant Idaho trailed 7-13 halfway through the quarter. The Vandals fought back to close the first, thanks to four points from Nelson, ending the period with a single-point deficit.
Anja Bukvic and
Ana Beatriz Passos Alves da Silva started the second quarter with back-to-back layups to knot the game up at 22. Both teams traded baskets to close the half, resulting in a two-point Montana advantage heading into the break.Â
The Griz erupted in the third period, outscoring the Vandals 20-9. Idaho held Montana to 12 points in the final frame, but the effort came up short.Â
The fourth was highlighted by Nelson scoring her 2000th career point on a weaving layup and Aadland pulling down her 10th rebound of the night, reaching her eighth double-double of the season, but the Vandals ultimately came up short on the day.Â
