Electric Combo Guard Signs with Vandals

MOSCOW, Idaho – Idaho Women's Basketball Head Coach Arthur Moreira announced the signing of transfer guard Mary McMorris.

No stranger to the Big Sky Conference, McMorris started her collegiate career at Northern Arizona, where she played 29 games for the Lumberjacks, scoring a season-high 12 points in a win against Idaho State. In her sophomore year, the Las Vegas, Nev. native went to UC Santa Barbara, where she saw action in 26 games for the Gauchos, starting in four. She had her best game of the season in a 20-point outburst against Weber State. The 5'6" combo guard averaged 2.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists per contest in her sophomore campaign.

As a junior at Valdosta State in Georgia, McMorris shone for the Lady Blazers. A three-level scorer, she was the best qualified shooter from outside on the team last season, shooting .362 from outside, and was one of the best distributors on the team, averaging almost three assists per outing. Last season, McMorris scored in double-figures in 12 different games and scored 26 points in a game against Clayton State – the most points any Lady Blazer scored last season. The electric combo guard also had games where she recorded 18, 17, and 16 points throughout last season.

McMorris is the fifth transfer to sign with the Vandals this offseason, and is the sixth overall signing for Moreira's 2025-26 squad.

MOREIRA'S THOUGHTS

Mary is going to be a great addition to our program. She is super dynamic, a great ball handler, and has the ability to score in different ways. She has experience at the D1 level and in the Big Sky. She has never had a losing season in her career, so she understands what it takes to win. She is hungry for a championship and ready to compete.
