MOSCOW, Idaho – Head Coach
Arthur Moreira has established Idaho Women's Basketball as a premier destination for student-athletes in the transfer portal, as the Vandals have put together the 23
rd-ranked transfer class in the nation.
Per The Portal Report—which measures its classes based on production gained and lost—Idaho's transfer class is far and away the best in the Big Sky Conference and puts them among the elite programs in the nation. While the Vandals boast a top-25 transfer class, the next best transfer class in the Big Sky is ranked 116.
Moreira and his staff welcomed five student-athletes from the transfer portal thus far this season, highlighted by Debora dos Santos. The Brazilian post player comes to Moscow following a stint at San Francisco, where she was a First Team All-Conference performer, and per The Portal Report, was one of just 12 five-star recruits in the transfer portal this offseason.
The Vandals also signed Niveya Henley out of the portal. Henley, a native of Seattle, Wash., was previously in upstate South Carolina at Furman, where she earned all-conference accolades. Moreira also added significant size to the squad in the form of Lorena Barbosa, a transfer from San Francisco who stands at 6'5", making her one of the tallest players in the conference next season. She also has experience playing against Big Sky teams, having scored a career high of 16 points last season against a talented Northern Arizona team.
Joining Idaho from across the Palouse is Kyra Gardner. The 5'11" guard spent the past three seasons at Washington State, where she played part of a PAC-12 championship team.
The final transfer portal signing for Moreira and the Vandals was Mary McMorris, a combo guard from Las Vegas, Nev., who has previously played at NAU, but most recently at Valdosta State.
