Idaho Comes Up Short to GCU

Box Score

MOSCOW, Idaho – The University of Idaho women's soccer team came up just short on Thursday night, falling 1-0 in a tightly contested road matchup against Grand Canyon University.

The Vandals came out aggressive from the first whistle, moving the ball effectively and creating multiple scoring opportunities. In the first half alone, Idaho fired off 10 shots and earned three corner kicks, consistently pressing into the attacking third. Despite the offensive pressure, the Vandals couldn't break through, while their defense held strong — keeping GCU to just two shots and a single corner in the opening 45 minutes.

Carrying momentum into the second half, Idaho continued to challenge the Lopes, battling for possession and pushing forward in search of the lead. However, Grand Canyon capitalized on a chance in the 57th minute, netting what would stand as the lone goal of the match.

The Vandals pressed hard in the final stretch, generating looks on goal but ultimately unable to find the equalizer, finalizing the 1-0 result.
