SPOKANE – Zoe Newell went four-under Tuesday and two-under for the 54-hole tournament to finish third overall and lead the Idaho Vandal women's golf team to a fifth place finish at the Kalispel Invitational at the Kalispel Golf and Country Club in Spokane.
Newell started the day in sixth place but put up the best score of the round and the second-best round of any player in the tournament to finish two-under overall.
She carded five birdies on the day, compared to just one bogey to put up her best round of the season so far.
Laura Caamaño finished 22nd overall at eight-over for the tournament.
Ella Kozak was 25th overall at nine-over while
Inkjung Charnchanayothin was 11-over to finish 35th.
Diya Brar was 16-over to finish 49th.
Lucy Newell, playing as an individual, was 14-over to finish 43rd overall.
The Vandals were second among Big Sky schools in the field and Zoe was the highest finisher among Big Sky participants.
Idaho is back on the course on Sept. 29-30 at the Pat Lesser Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club in Western Washington.
