OGDEN, Utah — Idaho women's soccer couldn't overcome an early deficit on the road, falling 3-1 to Weber State in Big Sky Conference play Sunday afternoon at Wildcat Soccer Field.
 

The Vandals (3-4-5, 0-1-1 Big Sky) fell behind in the 15th minute when Weber State broke through on a corner. The Wildcats added two more goals early in the second half to stretch their lead to 3-0.

Idaho answered in the 67th minute when Sara Rodgers netted her second goal of the season, finishing off a corner kick from Bella Gissendanner to pull the Vandals within two. Rodgers led the Vandal attack with three shots, including two on frame.

Goalkeeper Paula Flores kept Idaho in striking distance with a season-high eight saves, seven of them in the second half as Weber State poured on the pressure. The Wildcats outshot Idaho 21-7 and held an 11-4 edge in shots on goal.

Annika Farley and Georgia Whitehead each put shots on target for the Vandals, while Naomi Alvarez was active up front with two attempts.

The Vandals next travel to play Sacramento State on the road next Thursday before hosting Montana on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.
