Vandals Resume Conference Play with Short Week at Eastern Washington

MOSCOW, Idaho - In the first week of conference play, Idaho Volleyball returned to action for the first time in Memorial Gym in nearly a month. First taking on current #1 Northern Arizona in Flagstaff before hosting the Montana Grizzlies in Moscow.

Now the Vandals return to Big Sky play with a lesser workload in terms of competition, traveling up the road to Cheney, WA for a Friday night contest with Eastern Washington on Oct. 3.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
Eastern Washington sits at a 2-12 record after week one of conference play, but their non-conference gauntlet paints a bigger picture than the number of wins and losses. The Eagles faced off with Mountain West, Big West, and Big Ten foes regularly, including Northwestern, Colorado State, Nevada, Gonzaga, and even Washington State and New Mexico State.

Against Big Sky competition, EWU dropped its first two matches but forced Montana State to five sets and stole one vs. Northern Colorado, who was picked 2nd in the preseason polls.

The Eagles return the reigning conference Freshman of the Year in Outside Hitter Quincy Moran, who is currently one of two players on the roster to eclipse triple digits in kills, tallying 101 so far. However, the team is led for the second year in a row by junior Kalista Lukovich, who has 152 to date and recorded 200+ in her freshman and sophomore years. Lukovich has been a standout offensively for Eastern, and her 3.32 kills/set ranks third in the league.

Defensively, EWU has two players in the Big Sky's top-ten in blocks. Freshman Judith Bolomboy's 1.06 blocks/set is sixth in the standings and her season total of 67 is third most. Senior Alyssa Radke ties for ninth with an even 1.00 blocks/set and has accumulated 44 to date. Junior libero Elle Bruegman has totaled 197 digs in 14 matches, the third highest such stat in the league.

The match will be broadcast on ESPN+, and links and LiveStats are available on govandals.com
