Dos Santos Named Player of the Week Following Two Double-Doubles

FARMINGTON, Utah – Following a week in which she averaged a double-double with 12 points per game and 11 boards per contest, grad student Debora Dos Santos was named the Big Sky Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon.

"I am really proud of Deb," Head Coach Arthur Moreira said of the star post player. "She tore her ACL only a year ago. She had a few setbacks earlier in the season and is still getting back into the groove. Her potential is unlimited! She is such a special talent, but an even better person. She is the ultimate teammate and brings great energy every single day."

Dos Santos, a five-star recruit who signed with the Vandals out of the transfer portal from San Francisco last season, was vital in the Vandal victories last week. On Thursday, Idaho clinched a big win against Idaho State in the Battle for King Spud, and Dos Santos put up 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench as UI cruised to an 81-68 victory.

On Saturday, not only did Dos Santos put up another double-double, her third of the season, but she surpassed the 1,000-career point plateau, contributing 12 points and 12 rebounds as the Vandals outpaced Weber State, 95-76, to move to 13-5 (4-1). For the week, she also shot 50% from the floor, 50% from outside, and averaged 3.5 blocks and 1.5 steals per game.

Despite coming off the bench in all 13 games she's seen this season, the Rio de Janeiro native leads the team in rebounding with 7.4 per game in just 15 minutes of action. She's the top rebounder on one of the best rebounding teams in the nation. During her time at San Francisco, Dos Santos was a First Team All-WCC player during her junior season when she averaged 15.3 ppg and 10.6 rpg. She was the highest-rated recruit that Idaho signed in the transfer portal this season in a transfer class that was ranked No. 23 in the nation.

Dos Santos and the Vandals will be back in action this week as they travel to play Sacramento State on Thursday, then Portland State on Saturday. Both games can be seen on ESPN+ and heard on the Vandal Athletic Network.

She's the third Vandal to win Big Sky Conference Player of the Week this season.
