Track and Field Ready for Home-Opening Lauren McCluskey Memorial

Lauren McCluskey Memorial MOSCOW, Idaho - Vandal Track and Field will kickstart its two meet home schedule this weekend at the Lauren McCluskey Memorial. The event will span three days, as competition begins with the women's heptatholon and the men's pentathlon on Thursday before transitioning to the running and field events across Friday and Saturday.

Fans can attend the meet in Moscow for free or can view Friday and Saturday's competition from home on ESPN+. In addition to Idaho, this year's 16 team field features Big Sky rivals Eastern Washington, neighbors Washington State, and squads from all levels across the Pacific Northwest.

After breaking the men's 60m school record at UI's season opening Spokane Showcase, Washington State transfer Keenan Kuntz is entered into the 60 and 200 again this weekend. Kuntz' lightning fast 60 time of 6.66 is the quickest in the Big Sky this season and ranks 26th in the country, while his strong 21.48 in the 200 is the second fastest in the conference and places him 74th nationally. Freshman Mateo Ganje also holds a top-20 spot in the Big Sky rankings at both distances and will compete in the pair this weekend.

The sprinters on the women's side also enter the second week of the season following strong performances in Spokane from Jana Willems, Blossom Omogor, and Rhyan Madden that see the trio each holding top nine placings in both the 60 and 200 meter Big Sky rankings. Willems narrowly missed out on the 60 meter final a week ago as she ran a 7.46, the fastest time in the conference this season. The Snohomish, Wash. native will compete in the 60 and the 200 this week, as Omogor and Madden will both participate in the 200 and 300.

In the throws, Gioele Tengattini and Evan Hartt will represent the Black and Gold in the shot put and weight throw after strong performances from both in the River City. Tengattini launched a personal best throw of 16.93m, good enough for second in the Big Sky. Beatriz Marciano and Kathryn Burnette also posted solid throws last weekend, with both taking top five spots in the conference rankings. All four athletes will compete in the shot put and weight throw this weekend.

The Vandal jumps team will begin their 2026 season at home. Shawn Twumasi Ampofo highlights the 10 entries for Idaho in the jumping events, with the reigning Big Sky Indoor triple jump champion being the lone Vandal man to compete in the event this week, while 2025 NAIA All-American Sydnie Zywina leads the three entries for the event on the women's side.

Hanna Tait and Adisyn Andrews are the only Vandals set to represent UI in Thursday's muliti's. The women's heptatholon begins at 3:30 with the 60 meter dash.

Idaho is set to enter teams into both the men's and women's distance medley relays on Friday night and the 4x400 relay on Saturday evening. The women's 4x4 was the only team to run at last week's Spokane Showcase.
