PORTLAND, Ore. – The Idaho Vandals Women's Basketball team (14-5, 5-1), winners of six of their last seven, moves up the west coast to Portland, where they will take on the Portland State Vikings (5-13, 1-5).
The game will tip off at 2 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN+. Doug Taylor, the Voice of the Vandals, can be heard over the airwaves on the Vandal Athletics Radio Network.
The Vandals come into the game following a scrappy 62-55 win against Sacramento State on Thursday to improve to 5-1 in Big Sky action. Idaho's bench outscored Sacramento State 14-3, and the Vandals outrebounded the Hornets 59-35. Portland State dropped a game to Eastern Washington on Thursday, falling to 1-5 in league play.
Idaho's offense leads the Big Sky Conference and is averaging 79.7 points and uses a balanced attack in their games, and is led by
Kyra Gardner and
Hope Hassmann, who are each averaging 13 points per outing. The Vandals have scored 80+ points in 11 games this season to lead the Big Sky, and have racked up a 10-1 record. Thus far this season, PSU is surrendering 73.9 points per game, which ranks last in the Big Sky.
Since
Arthur Moreira took over as Head Coach last season, Idaho has been among the best rebounding teams in the country. This season, the Vandals lead the Big Sky in every major rebounding category. Idaho has outrebounded opponents in 16 games this season and is 12-4 in those games.
IDAHO NOTES
- The Vandals have made 128 three-pointers this season and have made a three ball in 562 consecutive games.
- With Arthur Moreira at the helm, Idaho has the first Brazilian head coach in Division I history. The Vandals also have the most Brazilians on roster of any team in Division I with three.
- Idaho has one of the youngest coaching staffs in Division I, with an average age of 32.
- Debora Dos Santos just surpassed the 1,000-career point plateau, while Hope Hassmann is at 918.
