HOW IT HAPPENEDĀ
Both teams came flying out of the gate, exchanging blows over the opening 10 minutes and knotting up at 19. The Vikings broke off on a 14-7 run to close the period, holding the Vandals to just 2-13 from the field in that span as the Brave and Bold found themselves down seven at the end of the frame.Ā
Ā
Ā
Isaiah Brickner provided a spark for the offense as he drained it from downtown on a dime from
Jack Payne. This was the ignition that brought the Idaho crowd to life and lit the torch that cut down Portland State's lead.
Ā
Brickner continued to lead the charge as he put up his first 20 point effort since his Big Sky Player of the Week-winning effort. He and
Biko Johnson kept putting pressure down as they with a combined 24 points in the second half. With time ticking away, Johnson put up a clutch triple through contact to cut the deficit to one.
Ā
With a PSU bucket in the final seconds, the Vandals couldn't get shots to fall at the end and the one possession deficit was cemented.
UP NEXT
The Vandals will start their road trip by facing Northern Colorado on Thursday afternoon. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m., with the game airing on ESPN+, the Vandal Radio Network, and the Varsity Network app.Ā
